Yusuf Buhari has announced his intention to contest for a seat in the House of Representatives ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The aspirant is seeking to represent the Daura/Sandamu/Mai’adua Federal Constituency in Katsina State under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Yusuf made his declaration in Daura on Thursday while addressing party stakeholders and supporters. His announcement followed a visit to Dikko Radda, whom he met on Wednesday to seek political backing.
Speaking at the gathering, Yusuf appealed for support from party members and constituents, pledging not to disappoint if elected.
“I am here to seek your support, and I assure you that if elected, I will do my best and will never disappoint you, God willing,” he said, expressing appreciation for the support he has received so far.
At the event, a traditional leader, Musa Haro, also urged stakeholders to rally behind Yusuf’s ambition. He noted that efforts would be made to engage communities across the constituency and build consensus with other aspirants.
He acknowledged the performance of the incumbent lawmaker, Aminu Jamo, stating that while no officeholder can achieve perfection, the outgoing representative had made notable contributions.
Yusuf was accompanied to the event by a former lawmaker from the constituency, Fatuhu Muhammad, along with other family members and political associates.
The seat is currently held by Aminu Jamo.
