The Lagos State Police Command has reiterated its commitment to partnering with the Independent National Electoral Commission to ensure peaceful, free and credible elections during the 2027 general polls in Lagos State.

The assurance was contained in a statement issued on Wednesday by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Abimbola Adebisi, after officials of INEC paid a courtesy visit to the Command Headquarters in Ikeja.

According to the statement, the Commissioner of Police, Tijani Fatai, received the delegation led by the Lagos State Resident Electoral Commissioner, Abayomi Salami.

During the meeting, Salami congratulated the police commissioner on his appointment and called for continued cooperation between INEC and the police as preparations for the 2027 elections gather momentum.

The electoral commission also stressed the importance of collaboration with security agencies in ensuring peaceful and transparent elections across the state.

In his response, CP Fatai noted that effective collaboration among institutions remains crucial to strengthening democracy and boosting public confidence in the electoral process.

He further assured the commission of the command’s readiness to provide adequate security and honour all lawful requests made by INEC in carrying out its constitutional responsibilities.

The police commissioner also emphasised the importance of inter-agency cooperation in maintaining peace and order before, during and after elections in the state.
