Bello El-Rufai, the son of former Kaduna State governor Nasir El-Rufai, has defected from the ruling All Progressives Congress to the African Democratic Congress.
The announcement was made during plenary at the House of Representatives on Thursday, following the resumption of legislative activities.
Speaker of the House, Abbas Tajudeen, read the letters of defection submitted by the lawmakers.
According to the Speaker, Bello El-Rufai joined the ADC alongside two lawmakers from Kaduna State, Reps Umar Ajilo and Suleiman Yahaya Richifa, who also left the Peoples Democratic Party for the ADC.
In a separate development, Rep. Kamilu Ado from Kano State announced his defection from the ADC to the Nigeria Democratic Congress.
The Speaker also informed the House of the resignation of Rep. Joshua Obika, representing the AMAC/Bwari Federal Constituency in the Federal Capital Territory, from the APC to the NDC.
The lawmakers attributed their decisions to ongoing internal crises and uncertainty within their former political parties.
