Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has expressed condolences to the people of Esa-Oke over the death of the Owamiran of Esa-Oke, Oba Adeyemi Adediran.
The governor’s message was contained in a statement issued on Thursday in Osogbo by his spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed.
According to the statement, the monarch reportedly passed away in the early hours of Wednesday.
Adeleke described the late royal father as a revered traditional ruler whose reign was characterised by wisdom, peace, and commitment to the unity and development of Esa-Oke and the entire Ijesa Land.
“I received the news of the transition of the Owamiran of Esa-Oke, Oba Adeyemi Akanbi Adediran, with a heavy heart. Osun State has lost a distinguished monarch and father figure who dedicated his life to the service of his people and the preservation of our cultural heritage,” the governor said.
He added that the late monarch’s reign reflected humility, maturity, and unwavering dedication to peace and development, noting that his wise counsel and stabilising influence would be greatly missed across the state.
The governor further stated that the monarch played a vital role in promoting harmony and communal progress within Obokun Local Government Area and beyond.
Adeleke said the late Owamiran left behind a legacy of honour, integrity, and selfless leadership, adding that his contributions to community development and the strengthening of traditional institutions would remain memorable.
The governor also sympathised with the royal family, the people of Esa-Oke, the Obokun Traditional Council, and the entire Ijesa community, while praying for the repose of the monarch’s soul and strength for those mourning his passing.
The development followed growing concern in Esa-Oke over reports surrounding the monarch’s health condition in recent days.
Sources close to the palace had disclosed that Oba Adediran was indisposed and had not appeared in public for some time, fuelling anxiety among residents.
Concerns heightened on Wednesday after the Ogboni of Esa-Oke, Chief Paul Olamiju, announced a dusk-to-dawn curfew in the community.
