Yoruba Nation activist, Sunday Adeyemo popularly known as Sunday Igboho has said he is awaiting approval from the Federal Government to formally commence operations of his proposed security outfit, the Iru Ekun Security Network, aimed at flushing out criminal elements from forests across the South-West.
In a statement released on Monday, Igboho explained that all necessary documents for the registration and approval of the security outfit have already been submitted to the Federal Government, adding that he remains hopeful for final clearance soon.
He expressed readiness to work with security agencies including the police, the Department of State Services, the Nigerian Army and the NSCDC in tackling kidnappers, bandits and other criminal groups operating in rural communities.
According to him, the initiative is part of broader efforts to restore peace and safety, particularly in forest areas that have become hideouts for criminals.
Igboho also commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for what he described as a strong commitment to improving national security, especially in the South-West region.
He further confirmed his readiness to comply with the executive order issued by Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde regulating the operations of private security outfits in the state.
Igboho noted that strengthening security is essential for economic development, particularly in rural communities that serve as the backbone of agricultural production and food security in the country.
