The Independent National Electoral Commission has opened online accreditation for media organisations intending to cover the bye-elections scheduled for June 20, 2026.

In a notice shared on Friday via its official X handle, Independent National Electoral Commission called on interested media organisations to complete their registration through the commission’s accreditation portal before the deadline.

The electoral body stressed that late applications would not be entertained, urging media houses to submit their requests early to avoid disqualification.

The upcoming polls are expected to attract nationwide political attention as elections will be conducted in several key constituencies across the country.

The affected areas include the Dawaki Kudu/Warawa Federal Constituency in Kano State and the Zuru State Constituency in Kebbi State.

Other constituencies where elections will take place are the Ondo South Senatorial District in Ondo State, Rivers South East Senatorial District in Rivers State, Nasarawa North Senatorial District in Nasarawa State, and Enugu North Senatorial District in Enugu State.

INEC described the accreditation exercise as an important part of ensuring transparent and effective media coverage during the elections.

The commission added that only accredited media organisations would be granted official access to cover the polls, reiterating that applications submitted after the deadline would not be accepted.
