The spokesperson to Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, Rafiu Ajakaye, has announced his intention to contest for a seat in the House of Representatives.
Ajakaye is seeking to represent the Ifelodun/Offa/Oyun Federal Constituency under the platform of the All Progressives Congress.
He made his ambition public on Monday through a short video shared on his social media platforms, where he appealed to party leaders, members, and stakeholders to support his bid.
His declaration comes as political activities begin to intensify ahead of the 2027 general elections, with aspirants across Kwara State stepping up consultations and grassroots mobilisation.
Ajakaye, who has served as Chief Press Secretary to Governor AbdulRazaq since 2019, is widely regarded as a key voice in the administration’s media and policy engagements.
Explaining his decision, he said it followed extensive consultations with party leaders and stakeholders both within and outside the constituency.
In his address, he greeted party elders and members, particularly those in Ifelodun, Offa, and Oyun, before formally declaring his intention to contest in the APC primaries.
He emphasised the importance of effective representation at the National Assembly, noting that strong collaboration between lawmakers and the state government could enhance governance and accelerate development.
According to him, quality representation would help align public resources with the needs of the people and ensure better delivery of democratic dividends.
Ajakaye also pledged to provide honest, responsible, and competent representation if elected, promising to prioritise the welfare of his constituents and attract development projects to the constituency.
He urged party members and leaders to rally behind his ambition, stressing the need for collective effort toward sustainable growth and development in Ifelodun/Offa/Oyun Federal Constituency.
