Michael Carrick has been nominated for the Premier League Manager of the Season award after guiding Manchester United through a strong turnaround since taking charge as interim manager.

Carrick was named among six contenders for the prestigious award, alongside Mikel Arteta of Arsenal and Pep Guardiola of Manchester City, both of whom are locked in the race for the Premier League title.

Other managers shortlisted include Andoni Iraola of AFC Bournemouth, Keith Andrews of Brentford FC and Régis Le Bris of Sunderland AFC.

The former Manchester United midfielder stepped in as caretaker boss in January following the exit of Ruben Amorim and has since overseen a notable revival at Old Trafford.

Under Carrick’s leadership, Manchester United moved from seventh place into the top three and sealed qualification for next season’s UEFA Champions League.

Since his appointment on January 13, no club in the league has picked up more points than United, with the team reportedly amassing 33 points during that period.

The 44-year-old has also won 66.7 per cent of his matches, fueling speculation that the club could hand him the job on a permanent basis.

In the Player of the Season category, Arsenal stars David Raya, Gabriel Magalhães and Declan Rice were shortlisted alongside Erling Haaland of Manchester City and Antoine Semenyo.

Also nominated are Bruno Fernandes, Igor Thiago and Morgan Gibbs-White.

For the Young Player of the Season award, nominees include Kobbie Mainoo, Lewis Hall and Mateus Fernandes.

The winners will be decided through a combination of public voting and selections by a panel of football experts.
