Brazil produced an impressive display to claim a comfortable 3-0 victory over Haiti in their Group C clash at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, moving to the top of the standings ahead of the final round of group matches.
Needing a strong response after opening their campaign with a draw against Morocco, Carlo Ancelotti’s side delivered in style at Philadelphia Stadium, with Matheus Cunha starring with a first-half brace.
The breakthrough came in the 23rd minute when Cunha reacted quickest to convert from close range after Vinicius Junior’s initial effort was saved.
Cunha doubled Brazil’s advantage 13 minutes later with a superb finish, firing high into the near post to complete an excellent individual display and put the South Americans firmly in control.
Brazil added a third goal in first-half stoppage time when Vinicius Junior calmly finished to score his second goal of the tournament and cap an outstanding opening 45 minutes for the five-time world champions.
Despite dominating proceedings, Brazil suffered an injury concern before halftime after winger Raphinha was forced off with an apparent hamstring problem. The Barcelona forward later appeared with an ice pack on the back of his right leg.
With Neymar still unavailable due to a calf injury, Brazil introduced Rayan as a replacement, while teenage forward Endrick made his FIFA World Cup debut in the second half. The youngster thought he had marked the occasion with a goal, but his effort was ruled out for offside.
Brazil controlled the remainder of the contest comfortably to secure all three points and move to the summit of Group C on goal difference.
Attention now shifts to Wednesday’s decisive group-stage fixtures, where Brazil will face Scotland in a match that could determine the final standings.
For Haiti, the defeat marked a second consecutive loss and confirmed their elimination from the tournament.
