Nigerian Afrobeats superstar, Davido, has been confirmed as one of the headline performers for the Los Angeles edition of the FIFA World Cup 2026 Countdown Concert, scheduled to hold on June 10 in the United States.
The announcement was made by FIFA on Tuesday as preparations intensify for the historic 2026 FIFA World Cup, which will be jointly hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
According to the global football governing body, Davido will share the stage with internationally acclaimed music group Major Lazer, led by American DJ and producer Diplo. FIFA also revealed that more artists are expected to be unveiled ahead of the event.
The Los Angeles concert is part of FIFA’s first-ever synchronized Countdown Concert Series, designed to celebrate the upcoming tournament through a blend of music, football, and cultural exchange across the three host nations.
In a statement, FIFA described the event as a vibrant celebration that will unite fans from around the world.
“Los Angeles will host a high-energy celebration featuring Diplo’s Major Lazer and Davido, the first artists announced for what promises to be an unforgettable night of music, football, and culture,” the organization said.
The concert will take place at the iconic Crypto.com Arena, with doors opening at 5:00 p.m. local time. The live show is expected to begin an hour later and will be broadcast globally.
FIFA disclosed that performances from Los Angeles will be linked with simultaneous events in Toronto, Canada, and Mexico City, Mexico, creating a unique multinational entertainment experience ahead of the World Cup.
Speaking on the significance of the initiative, FIFA World Cup 2026 Chief Tournament Officer for the United States, Manolo Zubiria, said the concert series reflects the spirit of unity and cultural diversity that defines the tournament.
“The Countdown Concert Series celebrates the passion, unity, and cultural connections across three countries and around the world that define the FIFA World Cup 2026,” Zubiria said.
He added that Los Angeles, one of the world’s leading entertainment capitals, would provide the perfect setting for a memorable celebration just days before the tournament kicks off in the United States.
FIFA also announced that tickets for the event would go on sale from June 3, while fans worldwide would be able to follow the concert through FIFA’s digital platforms. The event will be livestreamed on the FIFA World Cup TikTok account, the tournament’s exclusive social media livestream partner.
In addition, full concert footage and exclusive behind-the-scenes content will be made available after the event on FIFA’s video-on-demand platform, VuMe Live.
Davido’s inclusion in the star-studded lineup further highlights the growing global influence of Afrobeats and Nigeria’s expanding presence on the international entertainment stage.
