Billionaire entrepreneur and SpaceX founder Elon Musk has made history by becoming the world’s first person to attain a net worth of more than $1 trillion.
The milestone was reached on Friday following the highly anticipated stock market debut of SpaceX, which significantly boosted Musk’s personal fortune.
According to reports by CNN, SpaceX launched its initial public offering at $135 per share. Investor demand quickly pushed the stock price higher, with shares rising to $165 shortly after trading opened on the Nasdaq under the ticker symbol “SPCX”.
The surge increased SpaceX’s market valuation beyond $2 trillion and lifted Musk’s estimated wealth to more than $1 trillion.
Before the listing, Musk was already regarded as the world’s richest individual, with an estimated fortune of $813 billion.
The latest jump in valuation widened the gap between Musk and other top billionaires. According to Forbes estimates, his wealth now exceeds the combined fortunes of several of the world’s richest individuals, including Google co-founders Larry Page and Sergey Brin, as well as Oracle founder Larry Ellison.
The achievement also places SpaceX among the biggest publicly traded companies in the United States, ranking behind only a handful of technology giants including Nvidia, Alphabet, Apple, Microsoft and Amazon.
SpaceX oversees several major ventures, including Starlink, its expanding satellite internet business, and xAI, Musk’s artificial intelligence company behind the Grok chatbot.
The development marks another major milestone in Musk’s business empire and further strengthens his position at the top of the global wealth rankings.
