French forward Ousmane Dembele has described Lionel Messi as the greatest player he has ever watched, praising the Argentine captain’s ability to remain influential despite advancing age.
Speaking in an interview with Marca on Friday, Dembele said Messi continues to perform at the highest level and remains one of football’s most dangerous players.
“Lionel Messi is the best player I’ve ever seen,” Dembele said.
The Paris Saint-Germain winger, who shared the dressing room with Messi during their time at Barcelona and later at PSG, said the eight-time Ballon d’Or winner has maintained exceptional quality throughout his career.
According to Dembele, Messi’s age has not reduced his effectiveness on the pitch.
“He’s 38 but he’s still fantastic and dangerous. His quality never gets old,” he said.
Dembele also warned football fans and opponents against writing off the Argentina captain ahead of future international competitions.
“We all have to be careful. Leo can still win the World Cup,” he added.
Messi, who led Argentina to victory at the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar, remains a key figure for both club and country.
Widely regarded as one of football’s all-time greats, the Argentine continues to command admiration across the sport, with many believing he still possesses the ability to influence the biggest tournaments.
