The lead talking drummer of Fuji music icon King Wasiu Ayinde Marshal, popularly known as K1 De Ultimate, has expressed gratitude to his boss for standing by him following a road accident that left him hospitalized for two weeks.
Ayankunle Ayanlowo disclosed this during a telephone interview on Wednesday while addressing concerns from fans who had noticed his absence from K1’s recent live performances.
According to the veteran percussionist, he was involved in a road crash along the Ijebu-Ode–Ibadan expressway on the first Monday after the Ileya festival.
Recounting the incident, Ayankunle said the commercial bus conveying him collided with a truck loaded with granite after the driver attempted to evade police officers conducting a stop-and-search operation.
“I was travelling from Ijebu-Ode when the accident occurred. The driver tried to avoid policemen on duty, but unfortunately the vehicle rammed into a granite-laden truck,” he explained.
He revealed that several passengers sustained injuries in the crash, although no lives were lost.
“I suffered injuries to my leg and chest and was immediately taken to a nearby hospital, where I remained on admission for two weeks before I was discharged last week,” he said.
The drummer reserved special appreciation for K1 De Ultimate, whom he credited for providing both financial and emotional support throughout his recovery.
According to him, the Fuji legend settled all his medical bills and maintained regular contact with him while he was receiving treatment.
“I am deeply grateful to my boss, Alhaji Wasiu Ayinde Marshal, for his kindness and support. He paid all my hospital expenses and consistently sent messages of encouragement that helped my recovery, both physically and emotionally,” Ayankunle said.
He prayed for God’s continued blessings upon the Fuji star, wishing him good health, long life and greater success.
Ayankunle also reassured fans that he is recovering steadily and hopes to return to the stage soon.
He noted that many admirers of K1 De Ultimate had reached out to inquire about his whereabouts after noticing his absence from the musician’s performances in recent weeks.
With his health improving, the renowned talking drummer expressed optimism about resuming his duties and rejoining the Fuji music legend on stage in the near future.
