Ahead of Saturday’s bye-election in Ondo South Senatorial District of Ondo State, Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa has urged residents of the district to vote for the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Prof. Dayo Faduyile.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) is conducting the bye-election to fill the seat left vacant following the appointment of former senator, Jimoh Ibrahim, as Nigeria’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations.
Speaking at the APC final campaign rally held in Okitipupa on Thursday, Aiyedatiwa, who was represented by his deputy, Dr. Olayide Adelami, appealed to voters to participate peacefully in the election and ensure their votes count.
The governor described Prof. Faduyile, a former President of the Nigeria Medical Association (NMA), as the most qualified candidate to represent the district in the Senate.
“Prof. Faduyile possesses the requisite experience, intellect and leadership qualities needed to effectively articulate the interests of Ondo South at the National Assembly,” Aiyedatiwa said.
He added that the district had enjoyed credible representation under Senator Jimoh Ibrahim and should sustain that standard by electing another competent successor.
“We have had quality representation in the Senate, and Ondo South cannot afford to lower the bar. Prof. Faduyile has the capacity and pedigree to continue that legacy,” he stated.
Aiyedatiwa also expressed confidence in the growing strength of the APC in the state, reiterating the party’s commitment to securing overwhelming support for President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 general elections.
Earlier, the APC State Chairman, Mr. Babatunde Kolawole, urged party members and supporters to intensify grassroots mobilisation ahead of the poll, assuring them of the party’s readiness for victory.
Similarly, the Chairman of the Campaign Committee, Pastor Femi Agagu, described Prof. Faduyile as a highly qualified candidate with strong credentials, wide acceptability and a proven track record that make him a strong choice for voters in the district.
