Serie A side Como have completed a major move to retain Argentine midfielder Nico Paz after reaching an agreement to sign him permanently from Real Madrid in a deal reportedly worth €60 million.

The development came after Real Madrid activated the €9 million buy-back clause included in Paz’s agreement, temporarily bringing the player back under the Spanish club’s control.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano disclosed that Madrid officially informed Como of their decision to exercise the clause but simultaneously offered the Italian club the opportunity to re-sign the midfielder for a significantly higher fee.
According to reports, Como moved quickly to secure the deal and have now agreed to pay €60 million to keep the highly rated midfielder.

The agreement also reportedly includes a future buy-back option that would allow Real Madrid to bring Paz back at a later stage for a fee believed to be close to €80 million.

Paz spent last season with Como and emerged as one of the club’s standout performers, attracting attention with his development and consistent displays.
Reports indicate that the 21-year-old preferred to remain in Italy for another campaign rather than return immediately to Madrid, where competition for midfield places remains intense with players such as Jude Bellingham and Arda Güler already occupying key roles.

For Real Madrid, the arrangement allows the club to maintain long-term control over one of its promising talents while generating substantial transfer revenue in the short term.

Como, meanwhile, secure the services of a player viewed as central to their sporting project as they continue building for the future.
