Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke, will on Tuesday commission six major infrastructural projects at the University of Ilesa as part of efforts to strengthen teaching, learning, research and students’ welfare at the institution.
The projects, executed by the state government, are expected to further enhance the university’s academic environment and reaffirm the administration’s commitment to expanding access to quality tertiary education in Osun State.
In a statement issued on Monday by the Senior Assistant Registrar, Corporate Services and Information Unit, Babatunde Fanawopo, the university said the projects slated for inauguration include the remodelled Faculty of Law Annex Building, the remodelled Faculty of Public Health Building, the remodelled Faculty of Basic Clinical Sciences Building, a newly constructed students’ hostel, and the reconstructed internal road network within the institution.
The university described the commissioning as another significant milestone in its infrastructural development, attributing the rapid transformation of the institution to the support of the Adeleke administration.
Vice-Chancellor of the University of Ilesa, Professor Taiwo Olufemi Asaolu, said the projects would boost the institution’s academic capacity, improve students’ learning experience and strengthen research activities, while consolidating its status as one of Nigeria’s fastest-growing public universities.
He commended Governor Adeleke for what he described as his unwavering commitment to educational development and human capital advancement in Osun State.
According to the Vice-Chancellor, the governor’s investment in critical infrastructure reflects his administration’s determination to provide a conducive environment for learning, teaching and innovation.
Professor Asaolu assured the state government that the university would continue to justify the confidence reposed in it by sustaining excellence in teaching, research, innovation and community service.
He also urged members of the university community, including staff and students, to turn out in large numbers to welcome the governor and participate in the commissioning ceremony as a demonstration of appreciation for the government’s continued investment in the institution.
