The Osun State All Progressives Congress (APC) Governorship Campaign Council has accused Governor Ademola Adeleke’s administration of violating the state’s Fiscal Responsibility Law by failing to publish key financial reports, alleging that the government is concealing the true state of its finances.
The opposition party made the allegations in a statement issued on Wednesday by the Head of its Media and Publicity Committee, Engr. Oluremi Omowaiye.
The APC claimed that more than three months after the statutory deadline, the Adeleke administration had yet to release the First Quarter (Q1) 2026 Budget Implementation Report as required under Section 46 of the Osun State Fiscal Responsibility Law, 2012.
According to the party, the report ought to have been published no later than the end of April.
The campaign council described the alleged failure to release the report as a deliberate attempt to shield the government’s financial activities from public scrutiny.
“This deliberate silence is roguish and has inevitably fueled widespread speculation that the government is doctoring financial records in a desperate bid to evade public scrutiny and ongoing investigations by the EFCC and other anti-corruption agencies,” the statement read.
The APC also alleged that the state government had failed to publish its audited financial statements for the 2025 fiscal year, contrary to the provisions of Section 45(1) of the Fiscal Responsibility Law.
According to the party, the continued non-publication of the reports amounts to a breach of the law and undermines the principles of transparency and accountability in governance.
The opposition further alleged that withholding the financial reports had concealed critical information relating to the state’s internally generated revenue, federal allocations, recurrent and capital expenditures, as well as other public financial transactions.
The party also accused the Adeleke administration of secretly obtaining commercial loans to finance political activities ahead of the 2026 governorship election.
“This criminal hide-and-seek approach lends further credence to allegations that the Osun State Government has, since the beginning of the year, been obtaining a monthly commercial loan of about ₦7 billion, amounting to approximately ₦42 billion, being warehoused to prosecute the forthcoming governorship election,” the APC alleged.
The campaign council called on residents of the state, civil society organisations, professional bodies and the media to demand the immediate publication of the outstanding financial reports.
“We therefore call on all well-meaning citizens of Osun State, civil society organisations, professional bodies, the media and all advocates of accountability to prevail on Governor Ademola Adeleke to obey the law by immediately publishing the outstanding financial reports without any further delay,” the statement added.
