The Independent National Electoral Commission in  has stated that it’s working with the National leadership of the National Union of Road Transport Workers on the provision of logistics for the forthcoming election and not the state chapter.

The Resident Electoral Commissioner, Mrs Oluwatoyin Babalola made this known at a townhall meeting organized by Civil Society Network on Election Integrity held in Osogbo.

Oluwatoyin said the commission is not aware of any faction of the NURTW.

“For transportation of our materials and men, we rely on NURTW and NATO. The national leadership has an MOU with the Commission and we have been communicating with a representative of the national leadership. We’re not aware of any factionalization.

“We have held trainings for them across local government.

“Part of the MOU is that they must give us good vehicles and we have scheduled Tuesday and Wednesday preceeding the election to inspect those vehicles,” Babalola said.

The Osun State chapter of the NURTW has been engulfed in leadership crisis with the national leadership installing a new caretaker committee.
