A close associate of Nigerian music promoter Sam Larry has dismissed widespread rumours of his death, confirming that he is alive and receiving medical treatment following a road accident.
The update was provided by media personality Mr LilGaGa after reports circulated on social media claiming that Sam Larry had died in a crash along the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway.
According to reports, the accident occurred when the vehicle conveying the music promoter collided with a trailer. The crash reportedly claimed the life of his bouncer, identified as Adewale, who was said to have died at the scene.
Sam Larry was reportedly rushed to a hospital, where he is currently undergoing treatment.
Speculation over his condition intensified after blogger Odumayo Funke Olufemi, popularly known as Odumayo 2000, posted on social media that the music promoter had died.
However, Mr LilGaGa swiftly refuted the claim in the comment section of the post, assuring fans that Sam Larry survived the accident.
“He is alive and kicking! We spoke,” he wrote.
The accident first drew public attention after comedian and master of ceremonies Mario Wazobia appealed to Nigerians to pray for Sam Larry, revealing that he had been hospitalised following the crash.
Following the reports, concerned fans flooded Sam Larry’s Instagram page with messages of support and prayers. Many reacted to his most recent post, shared a few days before the accident, which featured him alongside singer Naira Marley and other associates.
As of the time of filing this report, neither Sam Larry’s family nor his management has issued an official statement on his health. Likewise, the Nigeria Police Force and other relevant authorities are yet to release an official report on the circumstances surrounding the accident or confirm the reported casualty.
The incident has continued to generate widespread reactions online, with many fans expressing relief after the clarification that the music promoter is alive while also mourning the reported death of his bouncer.
