Popular Nollywood actress and filmmaker Toyin Abraham has opened up about her past smoking habit, revealing that her husband, Kolawole Ajeyemi, played a key role in helping her quit cigarettes.
Speaking during an interview on the Morayo Show, the award-winning actress described Ajeyemi as one of the greatest blessings in her life, praising his support and understanding throughout their marriage.
Abraham disclosed that she used to smoke cigarettes but decided to stop after becoming pregnant with their son. Although she admitted that she occasionally uses a vape, she said she has completely given up cigarette smoking.
According to the actress, her husband made it clear during her pregnancy that smoking cigarettes was no longer an option.
“Kolawole Ajeyemi is one of the best things that has ever happened to me. He lets me be myself. I used to smoke cigarettes, but I stopped. I still vape once in a while,” she said.
She recalled that after giving birth, Ajeyemi noticed her smoking during an outing but chose not to confront her immediately. Instead, he later warned that he would not tolerate their child being exposed to cigarette smoking.
Abraham said her husband told her that while he could not force her to stop smoking, he would never accept seeing cigarette butts around their child, adding that such a situation could jeopardize their marriage.
The actress, who married Ajeyemi in 2019, also spoke about how her husband handles her acting career, particularly scenes involving romance.
She described him as a mature and confident man who understands the demands of her profession and has never had issues with her playing romantic roles on screen.
According to Abraham, many of her colleagues’ spouses are comfortable working with her because they trust her professionalism.
She, however, noted that she now avoids intimate scenes, explaining that her current status in the film industry allows her to choose roles that align with her personal values.
Abraham said she no longer feels the need to perform kissing scenes as she did earlier in her acting career, stressing that promiscuity is not part of her lifestyle.
