Chelsea have reached an agreement with Aston Villa for the signing of England international Morgan Rogers in a deal worth £117 million, which would make him the club’s most expensive signing and the costliest English player in football history.
According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, the deal has been agreed between both Premier League clubs, with Rogers expected to undergo a medical on Monday before completing the move.
The 23-year-old forward is set to sign a six-year contract with the option of a further year, tying him to Stamford Bridge until at least 2032.
If the transfer is finalised, the £117 million fee will surpass the £115 million Chelsea paid for Moisés Caicedo in 2023 and the £107 million spent on Enzo Fernández, making Rogers the biggest signing in the club’s history.
The move also sets a new benchmark as the highest transfer fee ever paid for an English footballer.
Insightlinks Sports Arena gathered that Rogers enjoyed an outstanding campaign with Aston Villa, scoring 14 goals and providing 11 assists in 55 appearances. His impressive performances attracted interest from several top European clubs, but Chelsea have now moved ahead to secure his signature in what could become one of the biggest transfers of the summer.
