It was a massive turnout in Ilobu and Erin-Osun on Wednesday as members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Irepodun Local Government Area of Osun State staged a “Walk to Victory for AMBO” rally, expressing optimism that the party’s governorship candidate, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji (AMBO), will emerge victorious in the August 15 governorship election.
The rally, organised by the APC the area, attracted party leaders, stakeholders, youths, women and supporters, who converged at the APC Secretariat in Ojutu Area, Ilobu, before embarking on a solidarity walk through major parts of both Ilobu and Erin-Osun.
Party members moved from Ojutu to Oluwomi, Idire, Ire-Akari, Oke-Ila, before returning to Ojutu where members were addressed by party leaders.
Addressing the gathering, the Chairman of Irepodun Local Government, Barr. Adegoke Ogunsola, commended party faithful for their impressive turnout, describing it as a clear demonstration of the APC’s unity, strength and readiness for the forthcoming election.
“We have so much confidence in you as party members and voters. Your commitment and dedication give us the assurance that our governorship candidate, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji, will emerge victorious at the polls,” Ogunsola said.
He expressed confidence that the APC would reclaim Osun State, attributing the party’s optimism to the experience, competence and leadership qualities of its candidate.
“By the grace of God, we have what it takes to win this election. We have absolute confidence in God and in our candidate, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji. He has an outstanding record of public service, having served as Chairman of the Osun State Investment Company Limited (OSICOL), Commissioner for Finance and Chairman of the National Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA). These achievements speak for his capacity to govern the state effectively,” he added.
Also speaking, the Vice Chairman of Irepodun Local Government, Hon. Adekunle Oloyede, popularly known as Jaykay, described Oyebamiji as a compassionate and experienced leader who possesses the vision and capacity to transform Osun State.
“Our candidate is a man who genuinely cares for the people and has consistently demonstrated integrity, competence and commitment to public service. We know what he has achieved over the years, and that is why the party confidently presented him as its governorship candidate,” he said.
Jaykay expressed optimism that the APC would record victory at the polls, citing what he described as overwhelming support from traditional rulers, members of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), students, market women, youths and other community groups across Irepodun Local Government.
According to him, the growing support reflects the confidence residents have in both the APC and its governorship candidate.
He, however, urged residents of Irepodun Local Government and Osun State to remain peaceful before, during and after the election, stressing that peace is essential to the success of the democratic process.
“We advise our people to allow peace to reign and continue to work together so that everyone can enjoy the dividends of good governance when our candidate emerges victorious,” he said.
The “Walk to Victory for AMBO” rally forms part of the APC’s ongoing grassroots mobilisation campaign across Osun State as the party intensifies efforts ahead of the August 15 governorship election.
