Cristiano Ronaldo has married his longtime partner, Georgina Rodriguez, in a private ceremony in Cascais, Portugal, bringing their decade-long relationship to a new chapter.
The 41-year-old football star and Rodriguez, 32, tied the knot on Tuesday in an intimate ceremony attended by their five children, according to the player’s representatives.
Ronaldo confirmed the marriage on Instagram by sharing a photo of the couple’s hands showing their wedding rings, accompanied by the caption, “C ❤️ G.”
The wedding came exactly a year after Rodriguez announced their engagement on social media, following several days of speculation in the Portuguese media over where and when the ceremony would take place.
The couple eventually chose Cascais, an exclusive seaside resort about 30 kilometres west of Lisbon, where they own a villa.
Ronaldo and Rodriguez first met in 2016 while Rodriguez was working at a Gucci store in Madrid. Rodriguez has previously described their first meeting as “love at first sight,” saying she immediately felt a strong connection with the footballer.
Since then, the pair have become one of the world’s most recognisable celebrity couples, with their combined social media following reportedly exceeding 750 million.
Beyond football and fashion, the couple have also built business interests spanning clothing, lifestyle brands and hospitality.
Ronaldo, a five-time Ballon d’Or winner, currently plays for Saudi Arabian club Al Nassr after a career that included spells with Manchester United, Real Madrid and Juventus.
Rodriguez has also built a strong public profile, particularly through her Netflix reality series, I Am Georgina, which documents her family life, fashion interests, travels and relationship with Ronaldo.
The private wedding marks the latest milestone in a relationship that has grown from their first meeting in Madrid in 2016 into a family and business partnership watched by millions around the world.
