Sharon Adeleke, the elder sister of Nigerian singer Davido and daughter of billionaire businessman Deji Adeleke, has explained that growing up in a wealthy family does not necessarily mean having unlimited access to cash.

Sharon, who comes from one of Nigeria’s prominent wealthy families, said many people have a misconception about the lifestyle of children born into affluent homes, popularly described as “nepo babies.”

Speaking on a recent episode of The Morayo Show, she acknowledged that children from wealthy families have advantages that may not be available to the average person, including access to quality education, land and other properties.

However, she said such privileges do not always translate into unrestricted spending money, noting that beneficiaries are often expected to turn the assets handed to them into sources of income.

“A lot of Nepo babies don’t really have access to cash the way you guys make it seem. They have more than the average person, but they are always on a budget.

“Your school fees are paid, you are given land and properties, but you have to make use of them,” she said.

Sharon’s comments offer an insight into her own background as a daughter of Deji Adeleke, a billionaire businessman and father of Davido.

Beyond discussing wealth and family privileges, Sharon revealed that she plays an active role in managing her brother’s finances.

According to her, she and Davido hold weekly financial meetings to review his spending and ensure that his money is being properly managed.

“Me and Davido would sit and have a finance meeting every week because I think it is important for him to know how his money is being spent,” she said.

Sharon also disclosed that she had advised the singer to slow down on spending heavily on luxury cars, particularly given his penchant for expensive automobiles.

Her comments come shortly after Davido disclosed during a livestream with streamer Davrel that he had paid $11 million for a custom-made Bugatti, which he expects to be delivered to Nigeria.

Sharon’s remarks highlight the contrast between the privileges associated with growing up in a wealthy family and the financial discipline she says is still required to manage and sustain such wealth.
