Fedelta International Resources Company Limited, a financial institution has marked its first anniversary, reaffirming its commitment to empowering Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) and promoting financial inclusion across Osun State.
The company celebrated the milestone in Osogbo on Tuesday, using the occasion to reflect on its activities, achievements and challenges in its first year of operation, while unveiling plans for further digital expansion.
Fedelta International Resources was established to provide loans to MSMEs and civil servants through a structured partnership with the Osun State Government.
Speaking at the event, the Business Development Manager of the company, Mr Ayotunde Adisa, said the institution had overcome several challenges since its establishment and was preparing to move from semi-automated operations to a fully digital lending system.
Adisa identified competition and loan repayment as some of the major challenges faced by the company, noting that the institution had relied on technology, value-added services and strict customer verification to remain competitive.
“In the last one year as a financial institution, we have faced various challenges and conquered them professionally,” he said.
“One of our major challenges is the huge competition in the market, but competing favourably is not about funds alone; it is about value proposition through digitalisation.
“In the last 365 days, we moved to semi-automated operations, and in a few weeks, we are going fully digital. We also faced challenges of repayment and unwillingness to repay, which we conquered through diligence and adequate Know Your Customer (KYC) compliance.”
Also speaking, Mr David Ijila, a representative of the Office of the Accountant General of Osun State, commended Fedelta for its contribution to the state’s economic development over the past year.
Ijila said the office had monitored the company’s activities and observed that its focus on supporting small businesses was consistent with the economic development objectives of the state government.
“We appreciate Fedelta International for what they have done in the last one year,” Ijila said.
“We monitor their activities and see that they have a clear focus for a better future. Their mission aligns with the state government’s developmental goals for small-scale businesses and SMEs.
“The Office of the Accountant General is deeply interested in their growth because loan disbursements directly boost the local economy and improve Internally Generated Revenue (IGR).”
The company’s Legal Adviser, Adekunle Adeniran, said legal verification and strict compliance had remained central to the institution’s risk management strategy since its inception.
According to him, the company had strengthened its verification procedures to prevent fraudulent applications while ensuring that genuine customers receive the support they need.
“The general attitude toward loans is that they are easy to apply for but often difficult to pay back. People attempt to present fake documents, but this company enforces thorough legal verification before disbursing funds,” Adeniran said.
“Our staff are well-trained to ensure compliance while supporting clients fairly. Fedelta is driven by high integrity and a genuine passion for lifting people out of poverty.”
A beneficiary of the company’s loan scheme, Mrs Opeyemi Ademola, also shared her experience, describing the repayment arrangement as convenient and customer-friendly.
Ademola, a small business owner who has partnered with the institution since its inception, said her commitment to timely repayment had also earned her a N100,000 gift during the anniversary celebration.
“They have been completely trustworthy with me. The repayment structure is convenient, and through my dedication, I was even rewarded with a N100,000 gift today,” she said.
“My advice to fellow borrowers is to always maintain the spirit of timely repayment so they can secure access to higher facility limits.”
The anniversary celebration brought together government officials, community leaders and financial stakeholders, including the Commissioner for Youth Affairs, Hon. Olalekan Moshood Olagunju; a Board Member of the Osun Internal Revenue Service, Prince Philip Fadehan; the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Tax and Revenue Matters, Mr Dele Nasiru; and the Deputy Clerk of the Osun State House of Assembly, Mr Raheem Kolapo Sanusi. Representatives from the Ministries of Budget, Cooperatives and Empowerment also attended the event.
As the company enters its second year, the management of Fedelta International Resources said it would focus on expanding financial inclusion across Osun State, with greater investment in technology-driven lending solutions and community-based empowerment programmes.
The company said its transition to full digital operations would further improve access to its services while making its lending processes more efficient and accessible to MSMEs and other eligible beneficiaries.
