The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has unveiled its national campaign council for the 2027 general elections, naming its National Leader, Senator Henry Seriake Dickson, as chairman and its presidential candidate, Peter Obi, as co-chairman.
The party also appointed its National Chairman, Senator Cleopas Moses Zuwoghe, as vice-chairman, while its National Secretary, Barrister Ikenna Morgan Enekweizu, will serve as council secretary.
Former Kano State governor and the party’s vice-presidential candidate, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, was named co-vice-chairman, while Mallam Ibrahim Hussain Abdulkarim was appointed Director-General of the presidential campaign.
The announcement marks a major step in the party’s preparations for the 2027 elections, as it moves to establish a coordinated campaign structure for mobilising support across the country.
According to the list released by the party, the campaign council includes serving and former political officeholders, party officials, professionals and representatives from the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory.
Former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Babachir Lawal, will chair the National Campaign Advisory Council, with Zuwoghe serving as its co-chairman and former Ebonyi State governor Sam Egwu as vice-chairman.
The advisory council also includes former Abia State governor Okwesilieze Nwodo, economist Pat Utomi, former Anambra State government official Oseloka Obaze and other political figures designated to represent various states.
The party has also established campaign directorates to oversee key areas, including finance, logistics, media, policy, legal affairs, security, election monitoring, youth mobilisation, women mobilisation and diaspora engagement.
Constance Ikokwu was named campaign spokesperson, while the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Osa Director, will head communications and media. Zekeri Idris was appointed Director of New Media.
Other appointments cover the coordination of civil society organisations and support groups, election observers, situation room operations, welfare, medical services and information technology.
At the state level, the NDC named campaign coordinators for the 36 states and the FCT. Kunle Tiamiyu was listed as the coordinator for Osun State, while Ife Salako was named for Lagos State.
The party said the council would coordinate its nationwide campaign and mobilise support for its vision of a “new, just, and prosperous Nigeria”.
The unveiling comes as political parties begin positioning themselves ahead of the 2027 general elections, with campaign structures expected to play a key role in coordinating outreach, communicating policy proposals and mobilising voters.
The NDC’s newly announced structure places Obi and Kwankwaso at the centre of its presidential campaign, with Dickson leading the national council and Abdulkarim overseeing campaign operations.
