The Elegboro of Ijebu-Jesa, Oba Olufemi Agunsoye, has expressed confidence in Pelumi Olajengbesi’s aspiration to represent Oriade/Obokun Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, saying traditional institutions and ancestral heritage hold significance in the political future of Ijesa North.

The monarch spoke on Friday during the inauguration of the Pelumi Olajengbesi House of Representatives Campaign Council at Ijebu-Jesa Town Hall, an event that brought together political stakeholders, traditional rulers, community leaders and supporters ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Speaking on Olajengbesi’s candidacy, Oba Agunsoye expressed optimism about his aspiration and said he believed the ancestors of Ijesa North would support the candidate’s ambition. He added that obstacles to the aspiration would be overcome.

The presence of the Olomo of Omo-Ijesa and the Oniwoye of Iwoye-Ijesa further underscored the traditional significance of the gathering.

The inauguration also drew party members, professionals, women, youths, students and grassroots mobilisers from Oriade and Obokun local government areas, marking a step in organising support for Olajengbesi’s bid for the federal constituency seat.

As part of the campaign council’s structure, Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke, Alhaji Kazeem Akinleye and High Chief Dele Faseru were named patrons.

The council’s central leadership is headed by Hon. Mayowa Adejorin as chairman, with Hon. Bayo Ogungbangbe as deputy chairman and Prince Adesoji Baderin as director-general.

Hon. Ladesuyi Tope and Hon. Sola Adeyekun will serve as deputy directors-general for Obokun and Oriade, respectively. Other appointments include Hon. Omotoso Eniola as secretary, Hon. Ademola Asaju as assistant secretary and Sodiq Lawal Chocomilo as spokesperson.

To strengthen coordination and expand its reach across the constituency, the campaign council has established 20 committees covering mobilisation, ward coordination, media and publicity, digital communication, strategy, research and policy, legal compliance, election monitoring, finance, logistics and security.

Other committees will focus on engaging elders and political stakeholders, mobilising women and youths, reaching students, professionals, business owners and religious groups, managing support groups and party affairs, and coordinating diaspora engagement.

The committees are expected to drive grassroots outreach, stakeholder engagement, campaign communication and election preparedness across Oriade and Obokun ahead of the 2027 polls.

Olajengbesi, a lawyer, is the Accord Party candidate for the Oriade/Obokun Federal Constituency seat in the House of Representatives.

The inauguration signals the formal organisation of his campaign structure, with its leadership and committees expected to coordinate political engagement and mobilisation as the 2027 general elections approach.
