The Minister of Youth Development, Ayodele Olawande, has backed Seyi Tinubu, the son of President Bola Tinubu, as a strong contender for the next Governor of Lagos State.
Talks of Seyi taking over from Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu gained momentum in late 2024 when a socio-political group, Friends of Seyi Tinubu (FOST), officially endorsed him for the top office in the state.
In a recent interview with Seun Okinbaloye, Olawande described Seyi as a capable and well-trained leader, highlighting his significant contributions to youth development even before his father became president.
The minister firmly stated that Seyi is not too young to govern and is fully qualified to lead Lagos.
Despite his support, Olawande clarified that Seyi is not behind the growing campaign for his candidacy, asserting that the push for his leadership is being driven by others who believe in his potential.
As the buzz surrounding Seyi’s political future continues, the president’s son has remained silent on his intentions for the 2027 election.
