The Oyo State Government has issued a strong warning to corporate bodies, event planners, and anyone organizing large-scale celebrations for Valentine’s Day to comply with state regulations.

In a statement on Tuesday, Commissioner for Information, Dotun Oyelade, highlighted that several broadcast stations have been airing advertisements promoting Valentine’s Day events at various venues. He emphasized that security must be a priority for any planned events on that day.

Oyelade stressed, “All parties involved in organizing such events must coordinate with security agencies, including the Nigeria Police Force, the Nigeria Civil Defence Corps, Amotekun, Operation Burst, and other relevant security groups, to ensure proper logistics are in place for safe and orderly gatherings.”

He further noted that event planners, security, and medical personnel must agree on suitable venues.

The Ministry of Health and the Hospitals Management Board, alongside private hospitals, should be involved to provide adequate medical support.

The commissioner warned that failure to adhere to these guidelines would result in severe legal consequences.
