The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja, Mr. Nyesome Wike, has called on Nigerians to remain calm and patient as the nation navigates its current economic challenges.
Wike made this appeal yesterday during a condolence visit to Oyo State Governor, ‘Seyi Makinde, following the passing of his elder brother, Engr. Sunday Makinde.
During his visit, Wike emphasized that President Bola Tinubu’s policies are designed to bring about long-term improvements for the country.
He urged citizens to remain steadfast, acknowledging that while the transition may be difficult, it is a necessary step toward achieving sustainable growth.
“I have consistently advised people to be patient with this administration,” Wike stated. “Nigeria has faced significant challenges in the past, and it’s important to recognize the progress we’ve made so far. Sometimes, we forget where we came from and the efforts being made to move the nation forward.”
Accompanied by former Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom, and other dignitaries, Wike stressed that the current reforms, though painful, are essential for the country’s future prosperity.
He assured Nigerians that the government is committed to their welfare and that better days lie ahead.
“There are no quick fixes or miracle solutions,” he said. “The policies being implemented by President Tinubu are aimed at benefiting all Nigerians. While we may face temporary hardships, there’s no need to panic. The President has the best interests of the nation at heart, and I am confident that we will overcome these challenges together.”
Wike also extended his heartfelt condolences to the Makinde family, urging unity and solidarity during their time of grief. “In moments like this, we must come together to support one another. Our thoughts and prayers are with the Makinde family as they mourn this profound loss,” he said.
The minister’s visit underscored the importance of resilience and collective effort in overcoming both personal and national challenges.
