Gospel artist and pastor Nathaniel Bassey has issued a caution to his followers, urging them not to turn their passion into an “unholy obsession.”

In a message shared on his X handle on Monday, Bassey reminded believers that not recognizing him or other young ministers does not make anyone less of a Christian. He also clarified that opting out of his “Hallelujah Challenge” does not diminish one’s faith.

He wrote, “Dear brothers and sisters, you are blessed. Just a quick reminder.
“Please, let’s ensure that our passion does not become an unhealthy obsession.

“Not knowing Nathaniel Bassey or any other young, vibrant servants of God does not make you less of a Christian. In fact, many Christians have never heard of me or my music, and that does not affect their faith. They don’t have to know me—I’m not the best thing since sliced bread.

“I don’t even view myself that way. To think of myself more highly would be prideful.
Romans 12:3 says, ‘For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith.’

“Also, not joining the Hallelujah Challenge doesn’t make you less of a Christian. Everyone is free to connect with what best suits their spirit.

“I explain it like this: Apples don’t grow everywhere. Just because apples don’t grow in some places doesn’t make those places bad—it simply may not be the right environment for apples.

“Those of us participating should not look down on those who choose not to. Likewise, those who don’t join shouldn’t judge those who do.

“’Let not him that eateth despise him that eateth not; and let not him which eateth not judge him that eateth: for God hath received him.’ – Romans 14:3.

“Let each person remain in the calling where they are called.” — 1 Corinthians 7:24.

“I’m sharing this due to the many mentions I’ve received, and I normally wouldn’t comment, but I felt the need to clarify this for some.

“That being said, the Hallelujah Challenge resumes tonight after a short break, with Day 7. Let’s gather before our Father, at the altar, to offer hallelujah together! No worries! Only hallelujah.”
