Nigerian content creators Peller and Carter Efe have engaged in a war of words after the comedian questioned the authenticity of Peller’s relationship with fellow content creator Jarvis and suggested that social media pressure influenced their decision to get married.
Carter Efe made the claims during an interview while discussing relationships involving content creators and the pressure that comes with having personal affairs constantly exposed to online audiences.
The comedian described Peller and Jarvis’ relationship as being influenced by the demands of social media engagement, while also explaining why he believed he was not invited to their wedding.
“You go see am very soon, just calm. Na why them no invite me come their marriage, them dey see me as witch, so them no invite me,” Carter said.
He further argued that online comments and engagement could influence the decisions of content creators in their relationships.
“I know how women that love the content space behave. IG comments and engagement control women when they’re in a relationship,” he said.
Carter also disclosed that he would not want to date another content creator or celebrity because of the pressure that comes with maintaining a relationship in the public eye.
According to him, the constant expectations and reactions from social media users could push couples into making decisions they might otherwise have avoided.
“To be honest, na pressure dey make some people dey go do wetin them suppose no do because of the comments wey them dey see online,” he said.
Speaking specifically about marriage, Carter added, “The internet is crazy. It’s pressure them to marry.”
The comedian also drew from his personal experience, recalling a period when his relationship became closely connected to his content creation.
He said there was a time when he struggled to create content without his partner, even when they were experiencing disagreements privately.
“There was a time I could not do content if I don’t see my woman. I can’t shoot content if I don’t see her,” he said.
Carter said the situation became emotionally draining, revealing that he and his partner sometimes had to put their differences aside and pretend everything was fine before appearing in front of the camera.
“Do you know how many times I will cry? We go fight, fight before we start content, before we even shoot, before we face camera,” he said.
He said the experience eventually taught him not to allow social media audiences to dictate his personal decisions.
“I have to use my own brain. I said no. It cannot continue like this.
“If you don’t understand the internet, internet will put your head, then you will start regretting like four or five years later that these people don’t really care about you,” Carter said.
Peller fires back
Carter’s comments, however, did not go unanswered as Peller hit back at the comedian, accusing him of repeatedly involving himself in his relationship with Jarvis.
Peller said he respected Carter but warned that he would have taken stronger action against him if not for the regard he had for him.
“Carterefe, I respect you a lot. If not, I would have ended your career a long time ago. I’ll be on my own, you’ll be coming for me and my wife,” Peller said.
The exchange has since drawn attention online, with fans and followers weighing in on the disagreement between the two content creators and the growing debate over how social media pressure affects relationships in the entertainment industry.
