Olatunbosun Oyintiloye, a prominent member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has urged the Federal Government to release monthly allocations to the APC-elected local government chairmen in Osun State, who were reinstated by the court.

Oyintiloye made the call in a statement on Tuesday after speaking with journalists in Osogbo, the state capital. He emphasized that the state government should be held accountable for the funds spent on the recent local government elections, describing it as a waste of taxpayer money.

“I urge the Federal Government to start releasing monthly allocations to the APC-reinstated council chairmen in Osun State from this month,” he said. “The chairmen have been unable to perform their duties since their removal in 2022, but now that the Court of Appeal has reinstated them, they should receive their rightful allocations.”

He pointed out that the grassroots, which had been neglected since 2022, should now begin to feel the impact of the government.

Oyintiloye also commended the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, for his professional handling of security matters in the state.

“I commend the Inspector-General of Police for ensuring peace in the state and for addressing security issues with professionalism,” he said.

The former lawmaker also expressed his support for the reinstated chairmen, who have resumed their duties despite alleged intimidation from the Peoples Democratic Party. He urged local government staff to return to work, assuring them that security measures were in place for their safety.

Oyintiloye concluded by stressing that the chairmen’s resumption of duties would help bring much-needed development to the grassroots, delivering the long-awaited dividends of democracy.
