The auxiliary nurse who attended to the late singer Ilerioluwa Aloba, known as Mohbad, Feyisayo Ogedengbe, testified that the rapper began vomiting after she administered a tetanus injection.

During her testimony at the Coroner’s Court in Ikorodu, Lagos, on Friday, March 15, 2025, Ogedengbe explained that she stepped out to get more medical supplies when she was informed that Mohbad had started convulsing.

She stated that after giving him the tetanus shot, Mohbad developed goosebumps, a reaction that his wife, Omowunmi, described as normal for him.

Ogedengbe recounted the events of September 12, 2024, when she was contacted by Ayobami Sodiq, also known as Spending, to treat Mohbad.

Upon arriving at Mohbad’s Lekki home around 2:30 pm, she noticed a swollen cut on his right hand. She administered the tetanus shot to his upper arm and, after confirming that Mohbad had an ulcer, opted for paracetamol rather than diclofenac.

She injected him with 4ml of paracetamol diluted with 1ml of water, along with a slow dose of ceftriaxone to address a bacterial infection.

However, as she administered the ceftriaxone, Mohbad began to feel discomfort and went to vomit. After vomiting, he returned to the room and sat on the floor, where Ogedengbe noticed goosebumps on his body. She showed the reaction to his wife, who confirmed that it was a normal response for him to injections.

Ogedengbe questioned Omowunmi about why she hadn’t mentioned Mohbad’s usual reaction to injections. Omowunmi then took Mohbad to the bathroom, pouring water on his head.

Realizing the severity of the situation, Ogedengbe and Ayobami rushed to a pharmacy, but due to delays at the first pharmacy, they had to visit another one.

They managed to obtain hydrocortisone and saline before returning to find Mohbad outside the house, with preparations underway to take him to the hospital.

Due to a lack of vehicles and heavy traffic, Mohbad was transported to the hospital on a motorcycle, where he was declared dead on arrival by the medical team.

Ogedengbe described how the hospital staff initially hesitated to treat Mohbad, causing some confusion.

Later that evening, Mohbad’s body was taken back to the house, and the group proceeded to Orchid Lekki Police Station to obtain a death certificate. After police inquiries, they were redirected to the Ajiwe Police Station at Ajah for further documentation.

The case was adjourned to March 21, 2025, after cross-examinations from the counsels of Mohbad’s family, Omowunmi, and the state.

Ogedengbe and Sodiq are facing prosecution for reckless and negligent actions under the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
