The Kwara State Government has again demonstrated its unwavering commitment to healthcare development with the prompt disbursement of the 2025 Medical Residency Training Fund (MRTF) to 37 resident doctors in the State civil service.

This, according to the State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Amina Ahmed El-Imam marks the third consecutive year that the State Government has fulfilled its obligation to support resident doctors with the MRTF—an initiative that significantly eases the financial burden associated with their rigorous training programmes.

The Commissioner expressed appreciation to Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for his steadfast support to the health sector and reiterated the administration’s commitment to strengthening human capital development in healthcare.

According to her, the timely disbursement was to ensure that the young medical professionals are fully focused on their clinical education and provision of quality healthcare services to the people of Kwara State.

“The MRTF is not just a financial intervention—it is a statement of this administration’s priorities and values. Our resident doctors are the future of our healthcare system, and this support ensures that their journey to becoming specialists is not hindered by financial constraints,” Dr. El-Imam stated.

She maintained that the State Government remains committed to fostering an enabling environment for healthcare professionals to thrive, and to ensure delivery of quality, accessible, and sustainable health services across the State.
