Suspended Senator representing Kogi Central, Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, on Wednesday firmly denied any involvement in an audio and video clip circulating online that allegedly features her accusing Senate President Godswill Akpabio of blackmailing President Bola Tinubu to orchestrate her imprisonment.
In a statement she personally signed and released in Abuja, Akpoti-Uduaghan unequivocally distanced herself from the recording, urging the public to completely disregard the material.
She described the content as a “deliberate act of misinformation,” claiming it was designed to tarnish her image and cause instability within the National Assembly.
“I categorically and unequivocally disassociate myself from this video and audio. At no point did I give such an interview or hold any conversation of that nature. The voice in the recording is not mine — it has been cloned and doctored with malicious intent,” she stated.
Akpoti-Uduaghan condemned the content as a calculated effort to mislead the public and create division within government leadership, labelling it both criminal and a dangerous misuse of technology.
She reiterated her dedication to truth, justice, and democratic values, revealing that her legal team, alongside security agencies, has been tasked with investigating the source of the fabricated media and ensuring those responsible are brought to justice.
“The public should treat the circulating video and audio as completely false and deceptive. It is the handiwork of desperate individuals seeking to tarnish the reputation of a peace-loving and law-abiding public servant,” she added.
She concluded by affirming her commitment to public service and called on Nigerians to remain alert to coordinated campaigns of digital impersonation and falsehoods aimed at causing political instability.
