The Yobe State Head of Service, Alhaji Tonga Betara Bularafa, on Saturday, canvased merit-based career growth for civil servants, who sat for the promotion examination exercise.

Bularafa had personally inspected the ongoing 2025 Civil Service Promotion Examinations across the state.

The examination, which was held in three designated centres, had a total of 3,207 senior civil servants in attendance.

Arewa PUNCH visited some of the centres and observed that the candidates were distributed across the three centers of Damaturu Centre (Government Girls’ Unity College) with 1,852 candidates; the Gashua Centre (Umar Suleiman College of Education) with 858 candidates; and the Potiskum Centre (College of Administration, Management, and Technology) with 497 candidates, respectively.

During his tour of the examination centres, the Yobe HoS said he was observing the examination process to ensure fairness and transparency.

Bularafa, who also interacted with the candidates, stressed the importance of the exams and urged them to approach the exercise with diligence and integrity.

The Head of Service reiterated the government’s commitment to merit-based career advancement, stating, “We are dedicated to the growth and development of our civil servants. This examination underscores our commitment to merit-based career advancement. I urge all candidates to approach it with diligence and integrity, and I wish them every success.”

In a remark, the Rector of CAMTECH Potiskum, Ibrahim Bomai, affirmed the college’s commitment to supporting the state government by maintaining effective and reliable examination processes for the promotion exercise.

Alhaji Bularafa was accompanied on the inspection tour by key officials that included the Permanent Secretary (Establishment), Shuaibu Ibrahim Amshi; Director of Administration, Mohammed Mustapha Gambo; with the Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, Yobe State Council, Comrade Rajab Mohammed Isma’il and a team of journalists.
