The Appeal Court has upturned the judgment of the Osun State election petition tribunal sitting in Abuja and upheld the victory of Governor Gboyega Oyetola as the winner of Osun State governorship election held in September 2018.
Delivering the majority judgement, Justice Sankey held that the decision of the lower court to invalidate the result of the rerun election held on September 27 was wrong. His judgement was agreed to by three other justices in the panel.
However, Justice George Mbamba who delivered a dissenting judgment upheld the decision of the tribunal.
