The Deputy Senate President, Senator Barau Jibrin (APC, Kano North), says he will fully support President Bola Tinubu if offered the position of running mate in the 2027 presidential election.

Speaking to journalists in Abuja on Wednesday during a briefing on the upcoming zonal public hearings for the Senate Committee on Constitution Review, Jibrin responded to calls from some political groups urging President Tinubu to pick him as vice-presidential candidate in the next general election.

“If the President says I should work with him, I will say, ‘Thank you, sir,’ and do it,” Jibrin stated. “I am 100% loyal to him. He is my political father, and I’ll do whatever he asks of me.”

While appreciating the support of those championing his candidacy, Jibrin stressed that now is not the time for politics but for governance. “We should all focus on supporting the President’s efforts to reposition the country. Political discussions like this are premature,” he said.

He lauded President Tinubu’s leadership and described him as a kind-hearted leader who helped resolve political challenges in Kano and supported his emergence as Deputy Senate President.

Jibrin reaffirmed his commitment to the Progressive ideology and emphasized the importance of loyalty and unity in the administration.

Earlier, the Deputy Senate President also highlighted preparations for the zonal public hearings on constitutional amendments, which will review 59 bills and 31 proposals.
