The Ondo State Police Command has arrested a landlord and two other suspects in connection with the abduction and murder of two students from Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko (AAUA).

Commissioner of Police in the state, Adebowale Lawal, made the disclosure on Wednesday during a press briefing in Akure, where he detailed the recent breakthroughs by the command.

The victims were identified as 25-year-old Abah Friday and his 19-year-old female friend, Okah Eloho. According to the CP, their disappearance was first reported in a petition dated June 24, 2025, filed by G.O. Omoedu & Co. on behalf of Emmanuel Peter, the elder brother of Abah Friday.

Lawal explained that both victims were declared missing on June 20, 2025. Following the petition, the command’s anti-kidnapping unit launched an intensive investigation, which led to the recovery of an iPhone 14 Pro Max belonging to one of the victims. The phone was traced to Computer Village in Ikeja, Lagos, and recovered from 38-year-old Abdul Mohammed Mubarak.

Mubarak confessed to buying the device from one Ojo Michael, who was later apprehended in Aramoko-Ekiti. At the time of Michael’s arrest, the police also recovered a Lexus RX 350 vehicle owned by the victims.

During interrogation, Michael confessed to his role in the robbery, abduction, and eventual murder of the students. He revealed that the attack was orchestrated by the male victim’s landlord, Oladele Femi, who allegedly recruited Michael and another accomplice, identified simply as “Kola” (still at large), to carry out the crime.

Michael further admitted that N800,000 was transferred from the male victim’s account during their captivity. Disturbingly, he also confessed to raping the female victim after she recognised him and unmasked his identity. Fearing exposure, Michael said he and Kola killed both students.

The victims’ bodies were reportedly dumped in separate locations between Agbado and Ode-Ekiti in Ekiti State. Acting on Michael’s confession, detectives arrested Oladele Femi, who also admitted to masterminding the attack and helping to conceal the crime.

Lawal confirmed that the remains of the female victim, Eloho, were recovered from a bush near Ode-Ekiti and deposited at the General Hospital Mortuary for autopsy. Efforts are ongoing to locate the body of Abah Friday, who is believed to have been thrown into a river.

“This case highlights the horror of premeditated crime and the devastating impact of betrayal, especially by someone the victims trusted,” Lawal said.

The Commissioner assured the public that all efforts are being made to apprehend the remaining suspect and ensure justice is served for the victims and their families.
