A civil society organization, The Osun Masterminds, has called on the Osun State Government to refocus its attention on governance and stop prioritizing political maneuvering ahead of the 2026 governorship election.

In a press conference held in Osogbo as part of the July 2025 edition of its monthly State of the State Address, Executive Director of the group, Professor Wasiu Oyedokun-Alli, expressed deep concern over what he described as the government’s growing neglect of its core responsibilities in favor of partisan politicking.

Oyedokun-Alli said, “We have watched with disappointment how governance in Osun State has been abandoned for politics, government functionaries who should be committed to serving the people now spend their time strategizing for elections, while the people they are meant to serve are left to suffer.”

He warned that the administration must continue to deliver on its constitutional mandate until the end of its tenure, regardless of its political ambitions or re-election plans.

“While 2026 is indeed an election year in Osun, governance must not be sacrificed on the altar of political expediency, Public office holders are paid to serve, not to campaign”, he added.

Similarly, addressing the incessant attacks of Amotekun operatives in the State, the group condoled with the family of a slain Amotekun operative, while reiterating its previous warnings about alleged misconduct by members of the Amotekun Corps.

Oyedokun-Alli said there have been several complaints of abuse, oppression, and unlawful activities by the security outfit and we callon the leadership of Amotekun to either retrain their officers or take responsibility for their actions,” he concluded.
