Gianluigi Donnarumma is on the verge of completing a move to Manchester City from Paris Saint-Germain, ending his turbulent spell in France. The Italy international has agreed to a long-term deal with the Premier League champions, with his medical scheduled for Monday afternoon before the transfer deadline.

Renowned football journalist Fabrizio Romano confirmed that City have reached an agreement with PSG for the goalkeeper. The move comes as Pep Guardiola seeks a direct replacement for Ederson, who is finalising a transfer to Turkish giants Fenerbahce.

Ederson’s exit, valued at around €14 million (£12m/$16m), was negotiated by his agent Jorge Mendes, who secured terms with Fenerbahce’s sporting director, Devin Ozek. The Brazilian shot-stopper is expected to be unveiled in Istanbul in the coming days.

Donnarumma, entering the final year of his PSG contract, had already signalled his intention to leave after slipping down Luis Enrique’s pecking order. The French club strengthened their goalkeeping options earlier this summer by signing Lucas Chevalier from Lille, effectively paving the way for the Italian’s departure.

The 25-year-old is tipped to make his City debut after the international break, with the Manchester derby against United on September 14 earmarked as a possible first appearance in sky blue.
