The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has clarified that it cannot discipline the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, over alleged anti-party activities without a formal petition supported by evidence.

Speaking in Abuja, the party’s Deputy National Legal Adviser, Okechukwu Osuoha, explained that although a disciplinary committee led by Chief Tom Ikimi and Eyitayo Jegede as secretary has been established by the National Executive Committee, no action has been taken against any member due to the absence of official complaints.

“People often ask why we haven’t taken disciplinary action against the FCT Minister,” Osuoha said. “It’s not enough to simply allege misconduct. A petition must be submitted, and the accuser must be ready to testify and present evidence.”

He stressed that due process must be followed, and the accused must be given a fair hearing.

Osuoha added that this challenge is not unique to the PDP, but reflective of broader issues within Nigeria’s political and legal systems.
