Nigerian music icon Innocent Idibia, popularly known as 2Baba, has clarified the reason behind his absence from the opening night of his UK tour, which held on Thursday.
Speculation had been rife on social media, with some claiming that the artist was arrested in the UK following an alleged altercation with his wife, Natasha.
Addressing the rumours in a video posted on Instagram on Friday, 2Baba dismissed the claims and explained that his no-show was due to a medical emergency.
“First of all, I want to say to everybody who came out, we appreciate you. We had a medical emergency. It was tough, so you understand,” he said. “To the organisers, to everybody that came out, we will regroup, we will make something very, very beautiful happen.”
2Baba also cautioned against the spread of false information, urging people not to speak without facts: “If una no sabi something, make una no talk.”
The singer assured fans that the tour would be rescheduled and promised an even better experience when it returns.
2Baba and Natasha got married in July, shortly after the singer publicly announced his separation from Annie, his wife of nearly 12 years.
