The United States Ambassador to the United Nations, Mike Waltz, has extended an invitation to American rap star, Nicki Minaj, to discuss the ongoing persecution of Christians in Nigeria and efforts toward global religious freedom.

This development follows a recent post by Nicki Minaj on X (formerly Twitter), where she condemned the reported attacks on Christians in Nigeria and called for stronger global action to defend religious minorities.

Her comments came shortly after U.S. President Donald Trump officially designated Nigeria as a “Country of Particular Concern (CPC)” due to what he described as the ongoing genocide of Christians by Islamist extremists. The designation also included a directive to the U.S. Department of Defense to explore “possible action” against terrorist groups responsible for the violence.

Reacting to Minaj’s post, Ambassador Waltz expressed gratitude to the Grammy-nominated artist for using her voice to highlight the issue. He emphasized the U.S. government’s commitment to protecting religious freedoms worldwide and urged unity among believers.

“I’d love to speak with you in more depth about what our administration is doing to safeguard Christian freedoms around the world,” Waltz said. “We can’t allow this to continue. Every brother and sister in Christ must come together and say, ‘Enough.’”

Nicki Minaj, who has been nominated for 12 Grammy Awards, praised the United States for its protection of religious liberty while lamenting the plight of Christians facing persecution elsewhere, particularly in Nigeria.
