Super Eagles midfielder Alex Iwobi has addressed the controversy surrounding his earlier social media post about the team’s hotel in Morocco, where they are camped ahead of Thursday’s 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier playoff against Gabon.

Iwobi had initially shared photos from the team’s accommodation in Rabat, which appeared to show subpar conditions. The post quickly sparked reactions online, with many Nigerians expressing concern over the national team’s welfare and preparation.

However, the Fulham midfielder has now clarified that his intention was misunderstood. He explained that he never complained about or criticized the hotel but merely shared a photo from his view.

In a follow-up post, the former Arsenal and Everton player said: “Are you seeing life? It’s all about perspective. I just snapped the view I had and people started saying we’re ungrateful. I never said a word, just took a look. Because, you know, in life, some people don’t even have yards, some don’t even have beds.”

Iwobi’s clarification comes as the Super Eagles continue their preparations in Morocco for the crucial qualifier against Gabon.
