Police in Ondo have confirmed arrest of student of Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba, Tom Samuel over alleged rape of a female colleague.
DSP Ayanlade Olayinka Olushola, Spokesperson for Ondo Police Command, confirmed the development while speaking with InsightLinks on Monday.
According to him, the Commissioner of Police has ordered that the matter be transfered to gender section of the State Criminal Investigation Department for discreet Investigation.
“I can confirm the arrest. The matter has been transferred to gender section at the State headquarter for discreet Investigation,” Ayanlade said.
Eyewitness said the incident happened on Friday, November 21, 2024 at Cele street, Akungba.
It was gathered that the suspect reportedly drugged the victim by giving some alcoholic substance. The victim became unconscious while the incident lasted.
According to a medical report sighted by InsightMedia, a case of rape was confirmed by the Medical Director of General Hospital, Iwaro-Oka, Dr Gbademosi O. B. after tests were carried out on Saturday.
Video obtained by this reporter showed moment friends of the victim rushed into the room and met Samuel and the victim, who was still unconscious.
Students of the institution are calling for justice as some alleged that the suspect is a son to an influential police officer and has in the past, bragged that “nothing will happen.”
