President Bola Tinubu has commiserated with Super Eagles midfielder, Wilfred Ndidi, over the death of his father, Sunday Ndidi.
Sunday Ndidi reportedly lost his life in a road accident on Tuesday in Umunede, near Agbor, Delta State.
In a condolence message released on Wednesday by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the President described the incident as a tragic loss and expressed sympathy with the footballer and the entire Ndidi family.
Tinubu said he was deeply saddened by the news, noting that Wilfred Ndidi shared a close relationship with his father, who played a key role as a mentor and guide in his football journey.
He added that Sunday Ndidi’s humility, integrity and modest background had a positive influence on many who drew inspiration from his life.
The President prayed for God’s comfort for the bereaved family and for the peaceful repose of the deceased’s soul.
Sunday Ndidi, a retired military officer, was confirmed dead after he was rushed to a hospital in Agbor following the accident.
Leicester City, Ndidi’s English Premier League club, also confirmed the death in a statement on Tuesday, expressing sadness over the passing of the footballer’s father in the fatal crash.
