The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced that the 2027 Presidential and National Assembly elections will be held on February 20, 2027.

The commission also scheduled governorship and State Houses of Assembly elections for March 6, 2027.

INEC Chairman, Prof. Joash Amupitan, disclosed the timetable at a press conference in Abuja on Friday, stating that the commission had concluded arrangements for the conduct of the polls.

The announcement comes amid concerns over the delayed passage of the amended Electoral Act currently before the National Assembly.

Earlier, on February 4, INEC had indicated that it had finalised its election timetable and schedule of activities despite the delay in the amendment process.

The commission said it had submitted the timetable to lawmakers but warned that some aspects of the schedule could be affected depending on when the amended Electoral Act is eventually passed.

More details to follow.
