The National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons has appealed to members of the public to provide credible information concerning alleged cases of child sexual abuse and misconduct in daycare centres across Nigeria.

In a public notice issued on Tuesday via its official X handle, the agency reaffirmed its commitment to thoroughly investigating the concerns raised in recent public discussions and viral social media posts.

“Following recent public discussions and concerns raised regarding alleged incidents of child sexual abuse/misconduct in daycare settings in Nigeria, we are committed to thoroughly investigating credible reports,” the agency stated.

NAPTIP urged individuals with factual information, verifiable evidence, or direct knowledge of the alleged incidents ,including those personally affected , to come forward and share details confidentially.

“We kindly request anyone with factual information, evidence, direct knowledge, or who was personally affected by the matters referenced in the viral posts or related experiences to kindly reach out to us confidentially via DM or email us at [email protected],” it added.

The call follows widespread online discussions highlighting alleged misconduct in daycare environments, though the agency did not provide specific details regarding the viral claims.

NAPTIP’s intervention underscores its statutory responsibility to safeguard children from exploitation and abuse, including sexual offences, and to ensure that all reported cases are properly investigated.
